Reflexology

Reflexology is a natural complementary therapy which treats the whole person.

The origins of the treatment can be found in ancient China and Egypt where foot massage was used to alleviate pain. Modern day reflexology was bought to the west by Eunice Ingham in the 1930s who developed a systematic way of mapping different parts of the body to different points (or reflexes) on the feet.

During a treatment, I work lightly on these reflex points (see above) to re-balance the body, reduce stress and focus on the areas which will benefit you most.

Your treatment will take place fully clothed (with socks and shoes removed), on a specialist treatment chair. I recommend closing your eyes to maximize the benefits of treatment. It is entirely normal to become so relaxed that you fall asleep.

Reflexology works well alongside conventional medicine but you do not need to have a medical condition to benefit from reflexology. As a complementary therapy it is recognised by the NHS and many GPs. However, it should never be used instead of seeking professional medical advice. If you have any questions about your suitability for treatment, please contact me.

Reiki

Reiki is a gentle holistic therapy which promotes balance. Its originated in Japan in the 1920s under Mikao Usui and it’s literal translation from Japanese means ‘life force energy’.

Some of the benefits clients' report from treatments include a feeling of peace, calm and well being. They often find it a catalyst for making positive changes in their lives.

During the treatment you will lie fully clothed on a treatment couch. I will then lay my hands on or just above different areas of the body to allow your energy to re-balance and flow. Those who receive reiki often experience warmth, tingling or a feeling of relaxation during treatment.
